COMPETITION NEWS....
Congratulations to 'Steve0'

His tip of using a castle tee was found to cause the most significant improvement when driving the ball and he wins a box of Nike ONE golf balls.

It's as simple as that - so if you're interested in entering for another box of 12 then please join us in the forum and start adding your tips on fairway shots. In particular the 3-wood down to a 5-iron.
We'll run this for a month while we test all the suggestions and tips on the practice range and then we'll announce the winner.

Good luck!

For your chance to win a box of 12 'Nike One Tour D' golf balls, post your tips in this forum and let the Shoot59 community try them out!

Let's kick things off with driving the ball straight.

The tips that receive the most positive feedback will then be tested by the Shoot59 Team - and the tip we find most effective will claim the prize.

Not only could you win some free golf balls, you get to do what golfers simply love to do - give advice to other golfers! We just can't help ourselves can we?!!

So come on all you golfers - you must have some quirky little tips handed down by family, friends, and mentors over the years - a bit like your Nan's recipe for the perfect roast chicken!

Or even if you're a teaching pro - you may not need the box of golf balls, but I'm sure you've got some text-book stuff for us to try out.

Let's get to work!

Making sure I'm aiming straight with my feet, hips and shoulders on target, the only thing I concentrate on is starting my swing by turning my hips, arms and shoulders all at the same time. If either of these goes before or after the others then I'll hit a bad shot.

It works for me!

Other than the obvious answer of getting someone else to hit it. I always use a 'castle' tee to ensure consistency of ball height on the tee. I also find that I naturally draw the ball and it is easy to overdo and miss left, I therefore tend to try and do the opposite and set up for a fade as I find that I will very rarely overdo a fade as my natural shot is a draw and it therefore gives me more control.

For me, its the pre-shot routine. I stand behind the ball and focus on where I want the ball to go. I take a breath in and hold and exhale slowly while clearing my mind. I look down where I want my feet and walk to that point. I look where i was looking before and then take a 3/4 practice swing. Move forward, a quick look down the fairway and refocus on the ball. I take my normal swing, making sure to finish.

For me it is just not trying to get every inch of distance and just make a solid swing in balance.
